Those We Have Known
Perhaps as we, in the dawning of an age
That shall transform the substance of the self,
Open to a light above the head
Or hear a voice we know speak lovingly,
All fear is for a moment lost and then
No darkness haunts us or the night's profane,
For having seen beyond the doubting mind
The mysterious is no more a poet's dream
And time and space are parables of One
Who with his light has lit a thousand suns.
We then shall find beyond the bourne of years
The provinces of calm supernal peace
And shall in joyous meeting recognize,
In bodies new, continuing our quest,
Those we have known and loved through centuries.
